BOG Sanctions Access Bank Ghana Ltd and Five Forex Bureaux |

The Bank of Ghana has decided to take action on a number of irregularities in the conduct of foreign exchange transfers by Access Bank Ghana Limited and five forex bureaux, all located in Accra. The forex bureaux are Ocean Drive Forex Bureau, Kafsons Forex Bureau, Fatcoms Forex Bureau, Nabrim Forex Bureau and Sears Forex Bureau.

The Bank of Ghana’s attention has been drawn to media reports being attributed to the Bank that it is planning on closing all foreign deposit accounts and has instructed that a 2% per annum charge be levied on all foreign deposit accounts in the banks. Read more |

The Bank of Ghana, in pursuance of Section 7 of the Borrowers and Lenders Act, 2008 (Act 773) and further to its Notice No. BG/GOV/SEC/2010/02 dated 29th January, 2010 announces for the information of all Banks, Non-Bank Financial Institutions and the General Public, that as part of the ongoing reform of the legal and regulatory framework for effective operation of the credit system, including the Collateral Registry; the Bank has issued Rules under this Notice for effective implementation of Act 773.
