The global economy recorded modest recovery in the third quarter of 2009 influenced by strong growth in the Asian economies, particularly China. Subsequently, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) revised its growth forecast for the world economy from a contraction of 2.9 percent to 1.1 percent in 2009.
